| Jim Carroll Chooses Windermere San Juan Islands |
| Jim Carroll brings a wealth of experiences to Windermere Real Estate on San Juan Island. Jim's various career roles have all contributed to his move to the Northwest. As the Number Two Business Broker in 1996 in the United States with North America's largest, oldest and most respected business brokerage, Venture Resources, Jim first moved to Bellevue, Washington outside of Seattle, and owned his franchised office for VR Business Brokers. On a business trip to visit San Juan Island, he & wife to be, Judith, immediately fell in love with San Juan Island, reminding Jim of his visits to Booth Bay, Maine, where he traveled frequently. San Juan Island was love at first sight! Jim moved to the island within 4 months of his first visit. In 2003, Jim was Vice President and then, in 2004, became Interim President of the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce. In the fall of 2004, he accepted the position of Vice President of the San Juan Lion’s Club and President in 2006 -2007, and currently President of "Dollars for Scholars" for 2008-2009 & 2010. In addition, Jim is on the Volunteer Executive Committee for Friday Harbor Athletic Association currently in the process of building sports fields and park on 37 acres for the island youth and adults. Jim has served on several other community as well volunteer boards and is always ready to help. Jim also attends the Friday Harbor "No Name Club" almost every Friday @ noon. The club has no name, no purpose, no reason for being except to simply gather on Fridays in Friday Harbor with many of the island icons that shaped and created Friday Harbor & San Juan Island. A plaque at Downriggers Restaurant is boldly displayed indicating the existence of the infamous "No Name Club." |
| The San Juan Island Experience |
| As a project of island spirit and respect, after eight months of research with several years of internal dreaming, Jim produced a 30 minute documentary film about San Juan Island which may be ordered on the Internet or from Jim directly. The film depicts the history, sights and scenery of San Juan Island and is aptly titled "The San Juan Island Experience." With the help of many islanders, including a retired Hollywood Director for advice, as well as an Emmy Award Winning film producer, Laszlo Pal, whom provided San Juan Island footage for Jim's film, the "San Juan Island Experience" became a collaborative effort from the community under Jim's supervision. Jim's enthusiasm, knowledge and talents will make buying or selling your property or business a positive experience. |
| The OFFICIAL Unofficial First Ambassador of the San Juans |
| In 2004, Jim was Officially proclaimed the "Unofficial (yet friendly title) First Ambassador of San Juan Islands” at the Annual Visitor Bureau luncheon in the fall of 2004 at the San Juan Island Yacht Club. Although Jim was honored in jest, Jim takes that humorous title seriously. After he & his wife sold THE "Famous" FRONT STREET CAFE on March 1, 2004 at 3:05 PM.....(as Seen in Warner Brother's Movie, FREE WILLY 2) the immediate Spring & Summer & Fall of 2004, Jim promoted the San Juan Islands while on a cross-country, 10,000 ++ mile road trip in his Class B RV commencing on San Juan Island...... all the way to as far as the road would go in North East Nova Scotia, and over to Prince Edward Island and back via Washington, DC. Jim created a tire cover on the back of his RV which humorously read: “San Juan Islands, Washington State, 247 Days of Sunshine & Guaranteed to be Surrounded by Water or Your Money Back! VisitSanJuans.com”.
People from all over North America would read the tire cover (usually 2-3 times) , point, giggle, and then ask Jim about San Juan Islands. Jim promptly gave them a San Juan Islands Visitor Travel Guide & promoted the San Juan Islands. Visitors at gas pumps, fast food locations, and campsites along his journey, including a favorite campsite (Walmart Parking Lots/Campgrounds) where thrifty RV enthusiasts pull over for the night.
Jim handed out hundreds of San Juan Islands Visitor Bureau Travel Guides to new friends he met along the way as he toured North America with his wife. They visited 32 states and 5 Canadian provinces from Washington State to Washington,DC (yes Jim handed out brochures in front of the White House and inside the Supreme Court hallways!!!) and as far Northeast as Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and back to San Juan Island. This trip inspired the Movie Jim produced later that year.
The San Juan Island Experience".
Another off shoot from Jim's trip around the United States & Canada, was a youth program started locally by the Workforce Development Center Director, Minnie Knych, titled "San Juan Island Ambassadors" where high school students became summer Ambassadors to assist visitors arriving to San Juan Island.
Students received High School and College credits, as well as some summer stipend money paid from a fund set aside by the local lodging tax funds. Equally as important, the high school students became knowledgable about their home island and visitors loved the idea of being assisted. The trip was a 9 month plus sabbatical after selling the cafe, but gave Jim a deeper insight for being part of San Juan Island and how wonderful a place to visit, and even BETTER place to LIVE!
In the worst real estate market in the world since 1930 (so the story is being told by the media), Jim had his BEST YEAR EVER IN 2009 & was Top REsidential Producer on all San Juan Island as well as Business Opportunities too. Come along with Jim Carroll for your own "San Juan Island Experience."
Visit San Juan Island and take a tour with Jim, or even if you just need friendly assistance around town, will tell you immediately why he "is nicknamed "The First Ambassador of San Juans" by several locals and clients.
Many clients sent letters (unsolicited) on file which document Jim's Ambassador attitude. From Kentucky to Costa Rica to Casa Grande, Arizona, Jim receives Thank you letters for his assistance in buying or selling a home, vacant land or a Business Opportunity. One of Jim's island friends had a badge and coffee cup specially made for Jim, titled " First Ambasador of the San Juans!" All in fun of course, but Jim's Ambassador Attitude prevails. Call or visit San Juan Island to find out why Jim has called this his paradise and get Jim's First Ambassador Welcome !
Windermere San Juan Island & Jim Carroll truly look forward to helping you buy or sell a property or business on San Juan Island. |
